Our Attitude Towards Possessions
While reading this morning, I read the first few chapters of the book of Job. Job is initially very rich, owning massive amounts of livestock and real estate. He has a very large family (10 children) and is in fact the richest person in the area. But one day the devil comes and slowly starts to take all of his possessions away, hoping that at some point Job will give in and curse God. Job losses his riches, his family, and even his health, yet his attitude remains, “The Lord gave me much, so the Lord can take much”.
This attitude really struck me. What peace comes over us when we choose not to hoard our possessions, but realize they were given to us, and can be taken from us – at any moment. When we truly let go like that, we are free, and are no longer consumed by material things, and ownership of them.

For such a short post, this really is quite powerful. I think the key is to not take what you have for granted and also to not define your self by what you have. A man is a man no matter how rich or poor.
Yeah, very true. It almost comes back having an attitude of gratitude all the time.
