Using an Online To-Do List Application? Be careful, They Can Disappear.

Stikkit.com, which was an online to-do list style application / service is shutting it’s doors this Friday.  They offered ‘smart’ yellow notes, that could talk to other applications on your computer, and simplify note taking, and to-do lists.  I didn’t find the application super great, but I did use it from time to time, mostly for testing, and getting an opinion of it’s features.

Today is the last day that Stikkit.com will offer it’s services.  It’s proof positive that you always need to have backups, and make copies of your online to-do lists.  I have used Remember the Milktadalist, and todoist.  Although I just use one service at a time, (I’m currently using RTM), I always need to remember to make backups, and download copies of my exported lists, incase something similar happens to the service I’m using.

Although it’s hard to imagine google docs, mesh.com, or even RTM to shut down, don’t forget:  Backup, Backup, and Backup:  Only You can prevent data loss.
